It was clearly propaganda to refer to the "World Anti-Fascist War" and the Chinese involvement in the war's outcome. Other than that, he promised the world that China is and will be a responsible world power. Along with a few barbs aimed at those still fighting the 'cold war', he offered his thoughts for a shared future for humanity. He also pledged that China would strengthen the peace-keeping goals of the United Nations.
As an ancient Chinese adage goes, “The greatest ideal is to create a world truly shared by all.” Peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom are common values of all mankind and the lofty goals of the United Nations. Yet these goals are far from being achieved, and we must continue our endeavor to meet them. In today’s world, all countries are interdependent and share a common future.
Development is meaningful only when it is inclusive and sustainable.
To build a sound ecology is vital for mankind’s future.
Regardless of all of that, Xi Jinping offered some wisdom and a positive vision of the world's future in his speech. We can all hope that much of that vision will be fulfilled. Otherwise...
