The 'representatives' are being openly bribed by corporations to do the bidding of the corporations and are totally ignoring the citizens of this country. It is sad and frustrating to realize the difference between how our government is being run and how it could be run. We have the necessary resources to do a good job. America could be the shining beacon on the hill. American could actually be number one in the world instead of pretending to 'exceptionalism'.

Despite the fact that 90 percent of Americans want background checks, Congress resists, remaining "in thrall" of the NRA, and insisting that "now is not the time" to take action. (source)

In 2013, the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) — one of the nine organizational units that make up the Unified Combatant Command — had special operations forces (SOFs) in 134 countries, where they were either involved in combat, special missions, or advising and training foreign forces. Currently, the congress is pushing for war with Russia as we create tension in Ukraine. We are also 'feeling out' China for weakness so we can dominate more thoroughly that area of the world through our 'Asia Pivot' concept.
The entire 'free trade' agreement debate is about what corporate benefits should be allowed. The globalization of the workforce is 100 percent to the disadvantage of the American worker. The list of issues of concern to citizens is nearly endless. Congress supports tremendous social inequity;
congress supports mass incarceration; congress supports incredible amounts of pollution; congress won't fight global warming; congress supports destruction of public education and more, much more.
We all recognize this truth. The real question is why do we allow it to continue? We have horrible participation during elections. Have we simply given up? Do we really feel that powerless? A majority of us are not aligned with either of the two parties that run things. 91 percent of us are unhappy with the way things are going.
If congress cannot address global warming issues (and we know they won't), there truly is no hope for those things we would hope for -- our grand-children have no chance for as pleasant and as orderly a life as we have had.
To be an incumbent is all the reason necessary for us to vote for someone else. To be a member of any party other than democrat or republican is reason enough for us to vote for that person. We are absolutely desperate for a complete re-make of congress.
