Evil is the appropriate word !!! To advocate providing guns can only lead to people being killed with guns. To advocate guns in schools can only lead to students being killed wth guns.
Truthfully, there can be no other conclusion. We can attempt to obscure the truth with all manner of claims about constitutional rights. We can pretend that there is a benefit to everyone having a gun. We can bury our heads in the sand with claims about 'good people' and 'bad people'. We can recite sayings about 'guns don't kill people, people kill people". We can be stupid in all manner of our thinking about guns, and we can create all types of excuses to justify our stupidity... if we choose (as some do).
An example of the extreme stupitity we use to justify guns is to relate gun ownership to freedom. "there is no greater freedom than the right to survive and protect our families with all the rifles, shotguns, and handguns we want." Media Matter
And the idea that your gun ownership is going to protect you against a tyrannical government (presumably the United States government) is stupid in-and-of itself. Is it even conceivable that a handfull of gun owners (think Cliven Bundy and associates) are going to defeat the 'greatest military power on earth ???
Yes, people kill each other with knives, clubs and all sorts of weapons, but guns are so much more efficient. One can kill many more with a gun than with a club or a knife. And guns are easy to use. In a matter of seconds, one can fire off an incredible number of bullets and kill lots of people from a great distance. We could go 'stupid' here also and conclude that 'guns don't kill people, bullets kill people'.
The current favorite seems to be, “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” Washington Post
In the aftermath of the massacre at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, gun rights activists and their allies in the conservative media are once again blaming "gun-free zones," arguing that an armed citizen could have otherwise been at the church to stop the attack. "recall the shooting a few months ago outside the Empire State Building. A gunman began firing, uniformed NYPD officers responded, they tried to take the gunman down — and nine innocent bystanders were wounded, all by police gunfire. Now imagine that sort of thing happening in a school, and think how many children would be killed by errant shots from police officers’ weapons." Washington Post
Or, we could engage our brains and think reasonable thoughts on the subject. We could examin the evidence and act according to real facts, of which there are plenty. We could let the truth dictate !!!
"Guns Don’t Kill People, People Do?"
What exactly is wrong with the "guns don’t kill people, people do" argument?

The NRA’s insane idea about more guns in schools
Absurd, unbelievable, tragic, obscene — I grope for words to describe the National Rifle Association’s proposal for how the nation should respond... More guns in the schools... This may be the word I’ve been looking for: evil.
